SUMMARY:June 14 Halifax Contra Waterfront Dance
DESCRIPTION:All-ages community dance to live\, foot-stomping East-cost tunes on June 14 at the Halifax Waterfront! (weather permitting). \nWeather:\nEvent is fair-weather only – please check our website (halifaxcontra.ca) or facebook (facebook.com/halifaxcontradances)\, for updates if the weather looks iffy.\nIf you are unsure\, write info@halifaxcontra.ca.\nWe will make the final call by 6:00 pm on Saturday June 13th.\nAlso- very important: – Dress warmly!!\nPeople are often surprised how cool it is on the waterfront\, compared to up-town. \nTo bring:\n– a water bottle – there is no potable water on site\n– a warm layer- it can be breezy right by the water\n– comfortable and flat shoes (no heels! boardwalk is uneven)\n– a cash donation for our volunteer musicians if you can\n– if you want to sit to watch/listen\, bring your own folding chair! \nWarning: there are no washrooms on site. The closest are in Bishop’s Landing (1477 Lower Water Street) \nWhat is Contra Dancing?\n– Contra dancing is an easy to learn style of community dancing with a high level of interaction and fun.\n– There’s no fancy footwork\, and the caller tells you what to do.\n– You will join hands with many other smiling people as you travel in circles\, zig-zags\, and figure 8’s – the movement never stops and the live music carries you along.\n– You can find more information at https://www.halifaxcontra.ca/details-about-our-dances/\nOur dances usually take place indoors\, so bear in mind that some of the information on our website will not be relevant to this special outdoor event! \nIs this event appropriate for children?\nIn general\, kids who are 8 and older can follow the directions and successfully participate.\nYounger kids are still welcome – they can shadow along with their parents\, or just dance freely to the music. \nThanks to @Build Nova Scotia for hosting our event!
