Katie Jazic is a locally trained emerging dance artist from Halifax, currently studying dance at York University in Toronto. Last year, Katie launched United in Dance, a one-day dance intensive fundraiser created to support micro-bursaries for youth dancers facing financial barriers to participation. In partnership with Dance Nova Scotia, this application has been created to help distribute fund support.

The Jazic Dance Micro-Bursary Program provides financial assistance to youth and families who may otherwise face barriers to starting or continuing dance training. Bursaries are intended to help eligible youth remain enrolled in regular dance classes and engaged in their dance community.

Award Amount
Bursaries typically range from $150 to $500, depending on the applicant’s demonstrated financial need and available program funds. Bursaries are intended as a contribution toward dance tuition and related costs and will not cover the full cost of registration or instruction.

Eligibility and Assessment
Applicants will be assessed based on:

• Demonstrated financial need.
• Current or intended participation in regular dance classes.
• A commitment to regular class attendance and active participation.
• The availability of program funds.

Applicants may be asked to provide information about dance expenses and the class or program they wish to attend. All information provided will be treated confidentially and used only to assess the application.
