Red Corner Takes Centre Stage at HalifaxFringe Festival

In a world where art often asks us to think, Red Corner dares us to feel.

The latest work from Nova Scotian multidisciplinary artist Dawn Web, this powerful theatrical adaptation transforms poetry into an immersive, multi-sensory journey. Blending spoken word, music, visual art, and movement, Red Corner doesn’t just explore themes like identity, trauma, and resilience, it pulls audiences directly into their emotional gravity. With limited seating and an intensity that lingers long after the lights fade, this is a Fringe Festival experience you won’t just watch, but live.

Red Corner: A Theatrical Adaptation by Nova Scotian Artist Dawn Web

Show Length: 60 minutes | Tickets: $30.00
Venue: Neptune Theatre’s Imperial Studio (30 seats)
Presented by: Vivid Illusion Creative Studios Inc.

In Red Corner, Nova Scotian multidisciplinary artist Dawn Web invites audiences into a visceral and transformative world where poetry, movement, and music converge. Adapted from Web’s published poetry collection of the same name, Red Corner is not simply a stage production, it’s an immersive, multi-sensory journey designed to provoke, unsettle, and inspire.

Through an intricate weaving of spoken word, musical compositions, visual art, and dance movement, the performance explores a network of deeply human themes: identity, sexual health, neurodiversity, queer and political issues, sexism, racism, illness, suicide, perseverance, and the navigation of intergenerational trauma. But rather than asking audiences to simply relate to these experiences, Web uses sensory manipulation that include flashing lights, sudden sounds, haze, and visual effects, to create an environment in which the weight of these realities can be felt on a visceral level.

This intimate production which is part installation, part drama, part multimedia experience, invites its audience into a space where connection and confrontation live side by side. The result is a rare opportunity to not just witness art, but to be moved by it in body, mind, and spirit.
